How We Got Here
Already seven years ago in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, young 14-year-olds Grace Zielicke and Ira Amundson arrived at church camp with no knowledge of each other, no expectations of finding love, and neither of them could have dreamt of what God would unfold in the years to come.
Ira regularly attended this annual camp since he was born, but this year, he noticed someone new; a beautiful girl with curly dark hair named Grace. After asking around and making sure they weren’t related, Ira set his eyes on her. With some inkling of a friendly crush, Ira, throughout the camp, grew a liking towards Grace that eventually gave him the courage to make the first move. On the last night, Ira escorted Grace arm-in-arm back to the girl’s dorm, where, for the brief walk, made awkward conversation before saying goodnight. Besides catching a glimpse of each other the next morning, the two would not see each other for over 3 years.
A few days later and with a little help from a mutual friend, Grace and Ira exchanged phone numbers and began their long-distance friendship. Over the next 3 years, after many texts and a few occasional phone calls, Ira decided to fly across the country and visit Grace in Idaho.
After 2 visits, they had started dating. After 9 visits, Ira decided to stay. A year and a half later on October 10th, 2025 at the same spot of their very first date, Ira asked Grace to marry her.
